Kuala Lumpur, 7 October 2010 – Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB) has signed an agreement with Western Union (NYSE:WU), a leader in global payment services, to offer the Western Union® Money Transfer SM service in Malaysia.
Customers of KFHMB will now be able to transfer money to more than 380,000* Western Union® Agent locations in over 200 countries and territories. The funds will be available for collection by the recipient within minutes** of sending by the remitter. The Bank’s non-account holders can also use this service as it utilises a cash-to-cash platform.
Commenting on the effort, Puan Jamelah Jamaluddin, the Chief Executive Officer of KFHMB, said, “We aim to boost KFHMB’s fee-based income, in line with the Bank's strategic plan to grow its retail business to complement its other business offerings. This partnership will enable us to reach out to the Western Union’s extensive global network and strengthen our presence internationally.”
The service is now available at KFHMB’s Bureau De Change (BDC) at KL Sentral and Pavilion KL Branch. “We plan to also introduce the service at our other branches and BDC outlets by early next year,” added Puan Jamelah.
KFHMB officially opened its second BDC outlet at the International Arrival Hall, LCC-Terminal (LCCT) at KLIA on 1 April 2010.
